About

Back in November of 2013, Craig Lee was searching the internet for opportunities to perform in London. Having grown frustrated at the lack of a local music scene for hip-hop and rap artists in the Black Country, he decided to look further afield. With several releases and the formation of his own record label already under his belt, he was already making waves in his local area but there was a need to branch out and expand.

Meanwhile Rob was running an open mic night in Fulham, and received an enquiry from a rap artist willing to travel for a chance to show what he could do.

That set up the first meeting between Craig and Rob, and the two kept in contact and worked on various projects together – most notably collaborating on the writing, recording and performances of the ambitious Calling for Serenity EP “Endless Numbers” with folk singer-songwriter Anne Sumner.

By 2018 Rob had become Craig’s live guitarist, and the pair performed a series of acoustic shows in London and Birmingham. The combination of rap and acoustic guitar with just a kick drum for percussion was always popular with audiences, but the pair felt they could truly unleash the energy of the songs with a full electric setup.

Louis was recruited in 2019 and as a 3-piece they played a succession of gigs across London and Birmingham. Louis departed in August of 2022 to focus on his business, so the search was on for a replacement.

Moving into 2023, drummer Rob joined the group. In January of 2024 they recruited bassist Mariusz to complete the lineup. Following the release of their debut EP in December 2023, BadFace are now gigging as we go into 2024.
